Wine Cellar Projects Completed February 2026
The UK’s desire for prestige wine and a beautiful place to store them continues in 2026. Wine Racks UK has “racked-up” more fantastic and unique wine cellar and wine room projects in February.
Where as last month we completed some of the most beautiful and sleek projects we have ever built, this month we built more volume projects. The kind of wine cellars and storage that are tucked away, out of sight, but perfect for keeping wine for the long haul.

Project 1: Contemporary Basement Wine Cellar with LED Feature Lighting
This project transforms a compact basement room into a high-capacity, fully lined wine cellar using a modular solid pine racking system finished in a light oak stain.
The design maximises wall height, running racking from floor to ceiling on both sides to create strong vertical storage capacity. A continuous countertop runs the length of the room, providing space for decanting, organising, or display. Beneath the counter, additional case storage increases practical capacity without compromising accessibility.
Integrated warm LED strip lighting above the racking highlights the grid pattern and creates a premium, contemporary feel — proving that traditional pine racking can sit comfortably within modern interiors.
Key features:
- Full-height modular racking
- Solid pine construction with light oak stain
- Continuous worktop
- Integrated LED feature lighting
- Mixed bottle and case storage
Why this works
- Utilises vertical height to maximise bottle count
- Balanced mix of bulk storage and individual bottle display
- Lighting elevates a functional storage space into a design feature
Tip for future wine cellar projects
When designing a narrow cellar, run storage along both long walls and keep the central walkway clear. This improves usability and increases capacity without making the room feel cramped.
Project 2: Wine Room Conversion
This project shows how even a small, awkward space can be converted into a dedicated wine room.
Built into a cupboard-style room beneath a curved ceiling, the layout uses three walls efficiently. Standard bottle racking fills the side walls, while the back wall creates a focal point with symmetrical storage and diamond bins for bulk bottles.
A work surface along the left wall provides practical space for organising bottles, and the modular design allows the system to adapt around the room’s sloped ceiling.
Key features:
- Compact, under-stairs layout
- Full wall-to-wall bottle storage
- Diamond bins for bulk or Champagne storage
- Solid pine racking
- Practical countertop space
Why this works
- Turns unused household space into valuable storage
- Combines high-density diamond bins with standard racks
- Uses modular components to adapt to unusual ceiling shapes
Tip for future wine cellar projects
Don’t assume you need a full basement. Many successful wine cellar projects start with under-stairs cupboards or small utility rooms. Modular racking systems allow you to grow the cellar over time.
Project 3: Traditional Brick Basement Wine Cellar with Dark Finish
This larger basement wine cellar project demonstrates how modular wine racks can complement traditional architecture.
Installed against exposed brick walls, the darker stained racking creates contrast and gives the cellar a more classic, atmospheric feel. The layout wraps around the perimeter, combining individual bottle racking with large diamond bins and open shelving for cases.
The lighting is subtle and perimeter-based, allowing the architecture to remain visible while ensuring bottles are easily identifiable.
A central tasting table adds functionality, turning the cellar into a usable entertaining space rather than simple storage.
Key features:
- Perimeter wall installation
- Dark-stained solid pine racking
- Diamond bins and open shelving
- Feature lighting
- Central tasting table
Why this works
- Keeps the centre of the room open for movement and tasting
- Blends storage with atmosphere
- Balances display and bulk storage
Tip for future wine cellar projects
In larger rooms, avoid filling the centre with racking. Perimeter installations keep airflow better, make lighting easier to design, and create a more premium cellar experience.
What These Wine Cellar Projects Show
Across all three projects, a few common principles stand out:
1. Modular Design Is Key
Wine Racks UK’s modular systems allow:
- Easy installation
- Scalability over time
- Adaptability to awkward spaces
- Customisation of stain and layout
2. Mix Storage Types
The most practical wine cellar projects combine:
- Individual bottle racking
- Diamond bins for bulk
- Case storage
- Work surfaces
3. Lighting Transforms the Space
Integrated LED strips:
- Enhance visual appeal
- Make labels readable
- Turn storage into a design feature
4. Start With Capacity Planning
- Before designing any wine cellar project, consider:
- Champagne and magnum storage needsu!
- Current bottle count
- Projected collection growth
- Ratio of everyday vs ageing wines
